Reliance Street

Canham Consulting were commissioned by Suez on behalf of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) to provide the design for the redevelopment of an existing Household Waste Recovery Facility (HWRC) at Reliance Street, Newton Heath.

The HWRC redevelopment consists of a modernised facility with significant improvements which will reflect on how the site is used by the public and operated by Suez.

The improved layout will benefit both the public and operational team and the reuse shop will support the circular economy and the site itself will improve the site operation, reducing queue times and enabling improved health and safety management on site.

Canham Consulting delivered input from RIBA Stage 0 through to construction; initially delivering site masterplanning and optioneering and following up with extensive planning support and detailed design ahead of construction.

Having secured a fixed layout, we then delivered planning submission support through provision of site renders, drainage design, flood risk assessment and transportation services before moving on to design the civil and structural engineering aspects in support of the tender and construction packages.
