Canham Consulting was established in 1976 by Tony Canham. The business was originally known as Canham Thomas Partnership.

The business operated from a small terrace house in Norwich, until the retirement of Tony in 2002. It was at this time that the company was renamed as Canham Consulting. In 2003, Canham Consulting moved to School Lane, Thorpe St Andrew and introduced a new Building Surveying service. In 2023, the company moved to Thorpe Road, Norwich. Today, the business operates from three offices, in Norwich, Cambridge and London and employs more than 35 people.

The business is proudly Employee Owned, and members of the Employee Ownership Association.

We are an independent construction consultancy specialising in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering and Building Engineering.

We provide services for projects of any size, whether for a small alteration to a residential property or a design for a multi-million-pound development.

Our services include traditional structural engineering consultancy, for a range of projects in all sectors. We also provide Civil Engineering services in such areas as highways, drainage, marine structures, and coastal defence.

An area of increasing significance is support to the planning process with such services as flood risk assessments, drainage design, highway design and traffic assessments, and travel plans. In addition, we provide expert witness evidence when required in construction litigation.

We pride ourselves on our independence and have, over the years, gained a reputation from our clients – both in the UK and within Europe – for providing high quality advice.

Although most of our work is based in East Anglia, there are no geographical barriers to our area of operation, and we undertake commissions throughout the UK and abroad when requested.
