At Canham Consulting, we are committed to making a positive impact on our local community and the environment.

​

Our team have elected The Hamlet as our chosen charity. The Hamlet believes people with disabilities deserve to be valued for who they are. By providing recreational, educational, and social opportunities, children, young people, and adults can be themselves and reach their full potential.

​

We are proud to support such an incredible charity and, over the past year, have enjoyed organising a variety of fundraising events. In addition to our Charity of the Year, we also take part in a wide range of activities throughout the year in support of different causes. Highlights have included coffee mornings, pancake days, and even the occasional golf tournament!

​

Our team have their own individual charitable interests and we are proud to champion their acheivements. In particular, we celebrate two colleagues who took on the challenge of running marathons—achieving personal milestones while raising significant funds for causes close to their hearts.

​

Apprentices

It is important to us to grow our own talent and support local job opportunities. We are proud to currently have six apprentices at different levels across all disciplines at Canham Consulting.

​

Apprenticeships offer a unique way of learning by gaining real-life industry experience and an opportunity to earn while you learn. Our apprentices bring a fresh look to our projects and are all an essential part of our team.

​

Supporting Universities

We have been working closely with the University of East Anglia's School of Engineering, helping first year engineering students with their team project.

​

Recently we set the students a brief to consider ways in which a project could be more sustainable and were impressed with the results. It is important to us to support those at the beginning of their careers, inspiring their career journey and helping to shape their future.

​

We also support Nottingham Trent University by delivering guest lectures and project work. Our team thoroughly enjoy these opportunities to step outside the office, share knowledge, and have fun while doing so.

​

Sponsorships

Many of our colleagues are active in the local community, and we are delighted to support their hobbies and interests by sponsoring local sports teams and events.

​

Work Experience

Over the years, we have welcomed many work experience students in the business to give them an insight into what we do. On several occasions, we’ve heard that their time at Canham Consulting played a key role in inspiring them to pursue a career in structural or civil engineering.

​

We take pride in supporting the next generation and love hearing how our former placement students are progressing in their careers.

​

Work in Schools

Alongside our work with universities, we also recognise the importance of engaging with younger students to spark interest in our profession and the wider industry. This is particularly important when inspiring girls to explore the possibilities of a career in engineering.

​

We take part in local careers events, showcasing the work we do, and we enjoy delivering school assemblies and hands-on engineering challenges that engage and excite students of all ages.

​

Environmental impact

Canham Consulting is committed to becoming more sustainable and already achieved great success through switching to a fully electric fleet of company pool cars, changes to utilities contracts and collectively being more aware of how our day to day operations affect the environment.

​

We are proud of the steps we have taken so far, while recognising there is always more we can do—both in our projects and in the way we live and work.

​

Supporting local businesses

We are fortunate to occupy a fantastic office space at 69-75 Thorpe Road, Norwich and we have designed the space to have a large, multipurpose room which has proved invaluable. When the ping pong table is not in use (!), we offer this space out to local businesses to use for training days, conferences etc. We have great relationships with many local businesses and we like to support where we can.

We prioritise working with local suppliers wherever possible, whether for catering or other services, and we actively recommend and promote Norwich businesses to support our local economy.

​

Professional development

We are proud of our colleagues’ drive and determination to achieve professional qualifications. Our business is home to many Chartered professionals, with others well on their way to achieving this milestone.

​

Our culture of continuous learning encourages every member of our team to keep developing. We support each other through in-house workshops, mentoring, and the sharing of experiences—ensuring growth is a shared journey.
