First Look Survey
A First Look Survey is a visual inspection of a particular structural problem or concern such as movement, cracking, bulging, timber decay, dampness etc.
These are often required by home owners who are concerned about the appearance of specific damage or concerns of a potential purchaser or following problems identified by a Mortgage Valuation Report, Homebuyers Report and Valuation and/or other survey.
The survey will include any related matters such as drainage where subsidence is noted, but it would not include parts of the property which is not related to the specific problem.
If the engineer or surveyor were to identify any other structural problems or concern during the course of the inspection these might also be noted in the report.
The report will be in a letter format and include details of what was inspected and found. It will state whether or not there is a problem, any further investigations required and any remedial actions necessary to rectify the problem.
